Orthopedic Research Center – Introduction Establishment Background Human health is a fundamental issue for both developed and developing societies. The devastating physical and psychological impacts on patients and the resulting economic challenges further heighten this importance. Therefore, the necessity of proper prevention and treatment of patients is undeniable. Although industrialization worldwide—with inventions such as trains, automobiles, airplanes, industrial tools, etc.—has provided more comfort and ease to human life, it has also brought certain drawbacks. Road accidents and injuries caused by industrial tools harm countless people worldwide daily. Understanding, treating, and most importantly preventing diseases caused by trauma or industrial living are essential in such circumstances. Considering these important aspects and based on several years of experience by orthopedic professors, it was decided to establish a reliable and scientifically structured source with expert members. This resource would help with short-term and long-term planning and overall health policy in diagnosis, prevention, and treatment. Thus, in December 2011, following discussions among Dr. Kamran Asadi, Dr. Jafar Sharifian, Dr. Ali Karimi, Dr. Mohsen Vahid, Dr. Mohsen Mardani, Dr. Hossein Etehad, Dr. Ahmad Reza Mirbalouk, and Dr. Mehran Soleimanha, and with support from Dr. Shahrokh Yousefzadeh, the respected manager of Poursina Educational, Health, and Treatment Center in Rasht, this goal was realized. The Orthopedic Research Center officially received preliminary approval from the Ministry of Health and Medical Education on August 7, 2016.
